Cortijo Colmenares, where the Real Guadalhorce golf club is currently located, is a rural estate whose origin dates back to the 16th century. However, its current appearance was due to works in the 19th century. Surrounded by Mediterranean vegetation, the designer took advantage of the terrain’s orography in the Guadalhorce valley, north of Malgas Airport, to give beauty and movement to the 18 fairways along the route. In 2007 the course was redesigned by the honorary member Miguel Ángel Jiménez. In 2017 his is Majesty King Felipe VI granted the title of «Royal Club»; his father, the emeritus King H. Majesty King Juan Carlos I Honorary President of the entity.
